Our Lives Are Living Fairy Tales or Dying Tragedies

Our lives are living fairy tales or dying tragedies! The question is, whose script are you following? Are you following that tale of destiny and ultimate hope that ends with eternal life? Or are you following that self-published tragic tale that ends with the full realization of hopelessness? Do you agree with Macbeth when he concludes, “Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Or do you hear the deep calling of your heart that screams out, “I was created for a purpose. I was created to be someone grand and do something great.” That deep calling is God.
“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). Did you hear that? That is the sound of promise! That is the sound of hope! You are a creation of the Mighty God and even though He is all-powerful (omnipotent), all-knowing (omniscient), everywhere (omnipresent), etc…HE IS NOT TOO BIG FOR YOUR HEART. HE IS NOT TOO BIG TO THINK OF YOU. In fact He does think about you…in fact in one passage Jesus says, “What’s the price of a pet canary? Some loose change, right? And God cares what happens to it… well He pays far, far greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head!…You’re worth more than a million canaries to God.” The point is, God cares for you more than anything you care about and more than you can even begin to imagine. If you have children you know the lengths that you would go to protect and provide for your children. “If you who are human give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him?” What does every fairytale, and every really good movie have in common? They all tell about the struggle of good vs. evil and tell how those who are in trouble are rescued by a hero who overcomes evil. LISTEN: Jesus is the Hero that has come to save you from the clutches of evil. The darkness you now struggle in, the pain you now deal with, the blackness that consumes you…Jesus has come to rescue you from those things. Jesus said, “I have come to heal the broken hearted and set the captive free” (Luke 4:18). Jesus said, “I have come so that you can have life, a full and abundant life” (John 10:10). Do you realize that the entire Bible can be summed up in one word? RESCUE! The Bible is all about how God has gone about the task of rescuing His beloved children from the chains of suffering and death. And the beauty of the tale is that God became that necessary hero… So the question remains, “which script do you choose to live by?” If you are truly ready to step in to the tale of hope then it is time to run to the protection of the Hero. Christ stands waiting for you to realize that He has already rescued you. There is nothing else you need to do but to realize that He has saved you. In spite of your sins, in spite of the evil you have done or the good you have failed to do, Jesus still loves you and wants you to know that He came to rescue you. There is nothing else you need to do but to realize that He has saved you. So I urge you to seek Him. The sooner you do, the sooner you will begin to live the life of purpose and meaning that God created you to live.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” –Jesus
